Mumbai: Helmetless Woman Rider Hits Elderly Man in Kandivali, Son Demands Action After Sharing CCTV Footage
Road accidents in Mumbai are increasing, and many cases reveal the difficulties in holding the offenders accountable due to a lack of resources. A recent incident in Kandivali highlights this problem, where an elderly man was hit by a speeding two-wheeler and left seriously injured.
The victim’s son, Jayant Gajria, took to the social media platform X to call for justice for his 74-year-old father, who sustained a broken leg that needs surgery. In his post, Gajria described the incident and included a photo of the suspected culprit, a woman riding a scooter without a helmet.
My dad was hit by a speeding two wheeler yesterday. The rider..a lady..sped off without helping him. A case of hit and run has been registered. Dad's leg bone is broken and will be operated on Tuesday.

In another update, Gajria shared details about the accident, stating that it happened on November 30, 2024, at 3 PM, outside Narayan Dairy near Vasant Pride Building in Thakur Complex, Kandivali East. He expressed his frustration over the absence of CCTV footage that could have captured the vehicle’s number, as the woman was riding on the wrong side of the road and quickly fled the scene.
“No helmet, driving on the wrong side of the road, ran away after hitting my father… not a single CCTV in the area captured the bike’s number. I hope Mumbai Police can trace her soon,” Gajria added, tagging the Mumbai Traffic Police and calling for immediate action.
Despite his public appeal, there has been no official response from the Mumbai Police or Traffic Police so far, and there are no confirmed reports of any legal action being taken regarding the incident.
