Mumbai Man Booked for Abusing Doctor Met on Dating App, Forcing Abortion and Threatening to Leak Private Photos
In a disturbing case of betrayal and abuse, a young Mumbai-based doctor has filed a police complaint against a man she met on a dating platform, accusing him of sexual exploitation, coercion to abort her pregnancy, and blackmail through intimate photographs.
The 28-year-old woman, who works at a hospital in Andheri, reportedly began communicating with the 27-year-old man from Dongri in South Mumbai after matching with him on a dating app in 2023. What began as a consensual relationship quickly turned into a nightmare, she told police.
According to officials at the MIDC Police Station, the relationship initially appeared consensual. However, the woman revealed that during their time together, the accused secretly captured private and intimate images of her. Matters escalated in February this year when she became pregnant, and the accused allegedly pressured her into terminating the pregnancy against her will.
After the abortion, the man began to distance himself, eventually cutting off contact. The woman later discovered he had gotten engaged to someone else, which left her devastated. Feeling deceived and emotionally shattered, she decided to approach the police.
The doctor also claimed that the man threatened to circulate her private photographs on social media if she confronted him or took legal action.
Based on her detailed complaint, an FIR was registered on Thursday. The accused has been charged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including for coercing an abortion without consent and criminal intimidation.
As of now, no arrests have been made, but the investigation is ongoing.
This deeply distressing incident sheds light on the darker side of modern dating and the emotional and physical trauma that can result from betrayal in intimate relationships. Authorities have assured that they are taking the matter seriously and pursuing all necessary legal steps to ensure justice is served.
