Mumbai: In a shocking incident, the Mumbai Police control room received a threat call on Wednesday morning, alleging a plot to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The call led to the detention of a 34-year-old woman, who authorities later confirmed had no connections to any group or prior criminal history.

The anonymous call, made at 9:13 AM, claimed that a weapon was prepared for the assassination. Based on the last traced location of the caller’s mobile phone in Andheri, the Amboli police were immediately alerted. However, the phone was switched off shortly after the call was made.

Detention After Investigation
Following a swift technical investigation, police tracked the suspect when her phone was turned back on. She was detained in the Kandivali area on Wednesday evening. Senior Inspector Sadashiv Nikam of Amboli police revealed that the woman admitted to making the call out of frustration with the administration.

“She has no links to any group and does not have a criminal record. The call appears to have been made impulsively, driven by personal frustration,” Nikam stated.

Police recovered the mobile phone used to make the call. Preliminary inquiries also revealed that the woman, unmarried and living alone, has a history of contacting the control room with minor grievances.

Mental Health Concerns
The suspect, who has completed her education up to Class 12, was described by authorities as mentally disturbed. Police noted that she has a pattern of making similar calls for attention.

“A case has been registered, and her involvement in the hoax threat has been confirmed. She has been named as the accused and served a notice. Further questioning is scheduled,” Nikam added.

Background and Police Action

The Mumbai Police have assured the public that there is no credible threat to the Prime Minister. This incident serves as a reminder of the critical need for vigilance and responsible communication with law enforcement.

Investigations are ongoing, with officials emphasizing the importance of addressing mental health concerns that could lead to such actions.
