Mumbai Pune Highway News : BPCL Gas Tanker Overturns Near Bhakti Shakti : Truck Driver Injured

In the early hours of the morning, at approximately 3:30 AM, a BPCL gas tanker overturned on the Mumbai Pune highway near Madhukarrao Pawale bridge, according to the latest report by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. The incident triggered an immediate response from the fire brigade team of the corporation, who rushed to the scene to prevent a potential catastrophe.

Four teams from the Fire Brigade of PCMC, under the expert guidance of Vijay Thorat (Chief Fire Officer), Rushikant Chipade (Fire Officer), Omprakash Bahiwal (Head of Disaster Management Cell), Vivek Patil (Deputy Commissioner of Police), Balasaheb Kopnar (Assistant Commissioner of Police), Ravikiran Ghodke (Deputy Commissioner), Rangnath Unde (SPI), and 50 other policemen, swiftly arrived at the site.

Rushikant Chipade, Fire Officer, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s Fire Department told Pune Pulse, “A LPG bullet tanker of 18 tonne capacity was driving from Mumbai to Pune Highway on the newly constructed new bridge near Bhakti Shakti flyover and Madhukarrao Pawale bridge and while cutting the lane the driver lost control over the vehicle and jumped onto the divider. This accident caused a medium size leak in the tanker. At present, the gas transfer work is being held and the whole area is cordoned off by the Police for further precautions. The electricity supply of the entire surrounding area has been switched since the incident took place. The power supply and traffic will be resumed only when the gas is fully transferred. PCMC officials, Pimpri Chinchwad police, Fire brigade and MSEDCL officials have all visited the place to take stock of the situation. Senior officials from PCMC Jeetendra Wagh and Pradeep Jambhale Patil are at the accident spot. Police have provided 5 cranes and four fire tenders are working at the spot.” 

Currently, efforts are underway to safely transfer the gas from the overturned tanker. The combined efforts of the authorities involved aim to ensure the situation is brought under control and the potential risks are minimized.
