Mumbai / Pune, July 6, 2026: Heavy rainfall and strong winds have severely impacted flight operations at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, leading to cancellations, diversions and delays, as adverse weather continues to affect the city.
According to reports, four IndiGo flights were cancelled, while 13 arriving flights operated by various airlines were diverted to nearby airports after airport authorities temporarily suspended runway operations for nearly an hour on Sunday due to poor visibility and unsafe flying conditions.
Akasa Air also informed passengers of delays in several flights from Pune and advised passengers to check the latest flight status before leaving for the airport. The airline urged travellers to monitor schedule updates as weather conditions continue to affect operations.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange alerts for several parts of Maharashtra, forecasting continued heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours.
Passengers travelling to and from Mumbai have been advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines and verify the status of their flights before heading to the airport, as further delays and disruptions remain possible.
