Mumbai Rains: Flight Diversions and Weather Alerts Amid Heavy Showers
Mumbai faced severe rainfall disruptions as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) extended an orange alert for the city, prompting diversions of Five flights from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to Ahmedabad.
Additionally, a non-scheduled charter flight from Vadodara to Mumbai was rerouted. Despite the overcast conditions in Gujarat, Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport successfully managed these diversions alongside its 235 scheduled flights.
The IMD issued a red alert for Nashik and orange alerts for Palghar, Pune, Nandurbar, and Dhule. Almost all other cities in Maharashtra, including Mumbai, are under a yellow alert. The city is expected to experience ongoing rainfall, with temperatures ranging between 23°C and 31°C. The rain is projected to continue with varying intensity until early October.
Mumbai’s Weather Forecast Until October 2nd
September 27-29: Overcast skies with moderate rainfall; temperatures between 23°C and 25°C.
September 30: Lighter rain expected.
October 1-2: Heavier showers likely, with temperatures rising to 32°C.
Flooded streets and traffic congestion were reported across Mumbai, with the local train network experiencing delays but resuming normal operations later in the day. As October begins, the city should prepare for increased rainfall and potential weather-related disruptions.
