Mumbai to Nagpur Travelers Encounter Four Times Higher Toll Fees Due to Strike at Samruddhi Highway
Around 200 workers at four toll booths on the Mumbai Samruddhi Highway have been on strike for the past four days, advocating for various benefits. As a result, the FastTag scanning process at these booths has been suspended, leading to additional toll charges for vehicles. Normally, the toll is collected in stages, with the FastTag system automatically deducting fees from the vehicle owner’s bank account.
With the FastTag scanning unavailable, vehicles are passing through without the necessary deductions, prompting complaints from travelers about excessive toll charges. In particular, those traveling from Mumbai to Nagpur are facing toll fees that are four times higher than usual, and similar problems have been reported at the Sambhaji Nagar toll plaza.
The employees on strike are calling for a pay increase and the implementation of service rules akin to those of government workers. This strike is causing significant inconvenience for travelers, who are experiencing higher costs and disruptions to their journeys.
