National level Green Olympiad launched by TERRE Policy Centre

National Level Green Olympiad to encourage tree plantation and environment awareness quiz competition was launched today by TERRE policy Centre-NGO working for environment conservation.

Mitesh Ghatte, Deputy Commissioner Of Police, Pune was chief guest for launching ceremony,which was held online on 12pm, on 16 August 2021. Dr.Vinita Apte explained structure and schedule of this initiative and motive behind it. Pramod Kakde ,teachers,students and environmentalists participated in this programme.

TERRE olympiad is the first ever olympiad started by TERRE policy Centre. It’s a national level olympiad in 3 categories. 5 to 9 th Saplings ,10 to 12 Plants  and 12 th above till graduation Tree . It starts from 16th August and the portal www.terregreenolympiad.com is open 24 hours for one month I. e. till 16 September. 


First 500 students from each category will qualify for the 2nd round of which top 5 students will be awarded with laptop ,tab ,mobile phones and other gadgets .Overall top 100 Participants will be  awarded with hard drives and attractive gifts. This is the 7th edition and even last year in the Corona epidemic ,more than 2 lac students appeared for the quiz from all parts of India.


Schools also  get awards for maximum participation, organisational awards, difficult area participation and entry is Free for all,said Dr.Vinita Apte.Mitesh Ghatte said,’Environment conservation is everyday job,and it should not celebrated on any one specific day.We are going far from Environment,nature and it will cost us heavily.New innovative initiatives like this quiz are necessary to make environment conservation ,a mission.TERRE policy centre is working good in this direction.’


Dr Vinita Apte said,’Green olympiad is an initiative to sow seeds of love of nature in young minds.This quiz has getting more and more response every year.Creating awareness about environment conservation is the duty of everybody’.
