Nature conservation at its best at Utopia society

Whenever one thinks of a green spot in Wanawadi, Utopia CHS Ltd in Wanawadi comes to our mind. With 100 plus majestic trees like Gulmohar, Audumber, Neem, Mango, Papaya, Banana, Bel – to name a few and several beautiful flowering varieties of trees and plants like Jasmine, Roses, Shankeshwar, Frangipani alongwith seasonal flowers- the gardens of Utopia are a veritable delight. They’re a sight for sore eyes and bring peace to the tired soul.

Needless to say that these well maintained gardens and lawns are the result of several measures introduced by the Management and the hard work by the Gardening and Cleaning staff.

WASTE COMPOSTING PROJECT :

Strict segregation of garbage into Dry Waste and Wet Waste is implemented by all the Residents. All the wet garbage generated from the 245 odd flats is daily added to the compost pits which are then treated by bacteria culture. Green Thumb has been ably maintaining the Society’s Bacterial Culture pits, since several years now. The Society generates about 1 ton Compost every 4 months from 150kg wet waste collected daily. The society is very proud that since around 5 years now, her beautiful, lush green gardens have been thriving due to the compost generated in- house, without have to buy manure commercially.

WATER TREATMENT PLANT AND RAIN WATER HARVESTING SYSTEM :

Additional green measures like the Water Treatment Plant and the Rain Water Harvesting system help to manage PMC water shortage especially during the hot summer months. The Society also has 2 borewells, the water of which is used to hydrate all her gardens.

BICYCLES ON RENT :

The society has recently provided an additional amenity to her Residents- TILT BICYCLES- now Residents need not take out their vehicles to travel short distances or to run errands. They can cycle and thus help in the conservation of fuel, reduce harmful emissions, reduce atmospheric pollution and remain fit too.

ROOFTOP SOLAR PANELS IS THE FUTURE :

Utopia CHS is now looking to introduce solar lighting for her common areas. Utopia is truly an inspiration for all those societies who are looking to Go Green., with their ECO FRIENDLY INITIATIVES.
