Mumbai: Ahead of the upcoming municipal corporation elections in Maharashtra, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has announced a list of 40 star campaigners for the polls covering 29 civic bodies across the state. The list was officially declared on Thursday by NCP Maharashtra president and MP Sunil Tatkare.

The announcement comes amid ongoing discussions between the NCP and its alliance partners regarding seat-sharing arrangements for key municipal corporations, including Mumbai, Pune, and Pimpri-Chinchwad. Party sources said that the formal announcement of the alliance and the final seat-sharing formula is expected within the next two days.

The star campaigner list prominently features senior leaders of the party, including NCP national president and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, national working president and MP Praful Patel, and state president MP Sunil Tatkare. Several cabinet ministers, former ministers, legislators, and key office-bearers from various party wings have also been included.

Among those named are Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif, former minister Dhananjay Munde, Food and Drug Administration Minister Narhari Zirwal, Cooperation Minister Babasaheb Patil, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Makarand Patil, Agriculture Minister Dattatraya Bharne, and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Anna Bansode. Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare and Tourism Minister of State Indranil Naik also feature on the list.

The list further includes senior leaders and former ministers such as Dharmaraobaba Atram, Anil Bhaidas Patil, Sanjay Bansode, and veteran leader and former minister Nawab Malik. MLAs Amol Mitkari, Sana Malik-Sheikh, Idris Naikwadi, and former MPs and MLAs including Sameer Bhujbal, Aniket Tatkare, Zeeshan Siddiqui, and Rajendra Jain have also been named.

Office-bearers from various party cells, including OBC, minority, social, and women’s wings, along with spokespersons and regional leaders, form part of the campaign team.

With this announcement, the NCP has signalled its intent to mount an aggressive and coordinated campaign across major urban centres, as preparations intensify for the civic elections in the state.
