NCP holds silent protest against Chandrakant Patil

Nationalist Congress Party Pune held a silent protest at Jhansi Ki Rani chowk on Jangli Maharaj road today protesting against the controversial statements passed by Pune district guardian minister Chandrakant Patil on social leaders Mahatama Jyotiba Phule, Dr B R Ambedkar and Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj. A journalist covering a programme where Patil was present was detained by Pimpri Chinchwad police. The local police were suspicious about the involvement of the journalist in the ink attack incident. The detention and alleged arrest of the journalist drew attention of not just the media fraternity but also gained opposition from the politocal parties in opposition to BJP.

A silent protest was held on Monday by Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to support the journalist fraternity against the oppression of Bharatiya Janata Party.  The activists of NCP protested by tying their faces with black clothes. With the photo of a Mahatma in hand, activists sang the bhajan ‘Raghupati Ragava Raja Ram’.
