The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has instructed of taking action against the unauthorized businesses which operate by obstructing the dividers on the service routes while appealing to remove the unauthorized businesses on Pune-Solapur National Highway 65, Pune-Nashik National Highway 60 and Pune-Satara National Highway 48 within seven days at their own expense.

It has come to the notice of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Pune that some of the adjacent property owners have made unauthorized encroachments within the limits of these three highways under the jurisdiction of Pune. Due to this, the expansion work of the highway is facing obstacles.

It has been pointed out that unauthorized businesses have been observed on both sides of the Pune-Solapur National Highway in the area where there is 30m right of way (ROW), 15m from the center and 30m from the center in the area where there is 60m right of way (ROW).

It has been observed that there are unauthorized businesses on Pune-Nashik National Highway on both sides of the boundary where there is 30 m ROW, 15m from the center, where there is 45 m ROW. In that area 22.5 m from the center and 60 m in the area where the right of way is 30 m from the center.

It has been observed that 30 meters from the median on both sides of the Pune-Satara National Highway has been illegally encroached upon.

These encroachments and unauthorized constructions should be removed within seven days at own expense. Otherwise, the encroachments will be evicted by the authority under the National Highways Control (Land and Transport) Act 2002 and the cost and penalty will be recovered from the concerned holder.

As decided in the meeting of the District Security Committee, legal action will be taken against the businessmen and those who make unauthorized constructions by breaking the road dividers on commercial highways and service roads. Their business license will be canceled by the district administration.

Hence, NHAI project director Sanjay Kadam has appealed to all to take note and not break the road dividers or encroach on the highways and service roads in an unauthorized manner.
