Pune: NIBM citizens are irked with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL)  work as after digging the footpaths for electricity-related works they have failed to restore and repair the roads.

As per information, the MSEDCL dug up the footpaths for electricity-related works opposite the Maurya Building in the NIBM road area.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, a resident of Maurya Building, requesting anonymity said, “The entire footpath is unusable as after digging up the road, the MSEDCL has not repaired it. We are not able to walk properly on the footpaths. Also, the debris of the work is lying on the side of the road which makes the matter worse.”

Smita Kakade, a shop worker near Maurya Building, NIBM road said, ” The footpath and half portion of the road was dug up by MSEDCL for some electricity-related work. After completing the works, the MSEDCL did not care to repair the road as well as the footpath. Customers and everyone entering the shops, as well as people who walk on the footpaths, are facing inconvenience. Not just us but the entire shops in the vicinity are facing this issue. Additionally, several youngsters sit, eat & drink alcohol at this place and make the surroundings dirty. It’s becoming very difficult for shoppers and residents to walk as someone can fall or trip while walking.”

Nishikant Raut, PRO, MSEDCL Pune said, “We will send someone from MSEDCL to inspect that area & take appropriate action.”
