Pune: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) presented a drone project at the Geo Smart 2023 International Conference held in Hyderabad from October 17 to October 19, 2023.

Ramdas Jagtap, Deputy Collector & PRO, PMRDA said, “Using drone technology, a study has been done for city planning, ring road planning, and the Indrayani river improvement project. The drone technology is being used extensively in all these implementations.”

As per further information shared by Jagtap, in this conference renowned agencies of various countries participated in the program to spread information on remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), GPS systems, drone technology, etc.

In this, mainly Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC) working in GIS in India and other government/semi-government as well as private organizations are presenting how the technology is being useful for common people.

Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority is an authority that uses in-house drones and the work done by drones in the authority office was presented by former Metropolitan Commissioner Dr Suhas Diwase. In this, the Indrayani River improvement project, planning of the urban design scheme, transfer of facility plot, project report of the 65-meter inner ring road, etc were presented. Ex-chairman of ISRO Kiran Kumar congratulated the concept of drone use in the government department and Geo Smart 2023 is being praised for the use of drones.
