Pune:  The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has taken up the work of constructing an 83-kilometer-long ring road which will pass through Haveli, Maval, Khed, Mulshi & other talukas.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Ramdas Jagtap, Deputy Collector & PRO, PMRDA said, “In the first phase of the ring road project, Wagholi & Alandi areas will be connected for which land would be required from Solu, Wadgaon Shinde & Nirgudi.

“The land acquisition permission application has been sent to the Pune District Collector. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)  has been given NOC (No Objection Certificate) from our side to build the ring road in the Lohegaon & Wagholi areas, ” Jagtap added.

As per information from Jagtap, 17 flyovers will be built in total in the entire ring road. The base work of the ring road is going on. The deadline for completion will be out soon.

Additionally, PMRDA has already decided to develop the ring road in the Regional Development Plan. Earlier, the total distance was 123.97 km, while the width was 90 meters. In the interim, it was decided to make the width 110 meters as per the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) ring road. But these two ring roads are only about 15 km apart. In some villages, they overlap.

It was earlier decided to exclude about 38.34 km stretch of MSRDC’s ring road between such villages. In the interim, it was reclassified to MSRDC. Therefore, it was decided to increase the distance of the PMRDA ring road to 83.12 km in length & 65 meters in width.

Following are some of the highlights of the ring road:

·         Total length – 83.12 km

·         Total width – 65 meters

·         Five-meter lane reserved for Metro

·         Pune-Satara to Nagar road will be connected

·         42 roads connecting to Ring Road will also be developed

·         The route will pass through Haveli, Khed, Maval and Mulshi taluka

·         10 tunnels with a total distance of 9.13 km

·         17 major flyovers
