Kad Nagar junction in Undri has always been in news for the long queue of vehicles. The root causes of congestion are the increasing vehicles, narrow roads and reckless motorists.

To resolve the congestion issues, a resident of Undri, Col Deepak Kumar joined hands with Handewadi Traffic Division.

The resident along with Pune Municipal Corporation removed the illegal hoarding structures which were causing visibility issues. Also, the road was dug up so that it does not turn into an illegal tempo stand. Now, both the sides on the road are clear and no hawkers or tempos are parked.

Col Deepak Kumar said that the road is now less congested. This is the entry and exit point for Undri as well as Mohamadwadi. “PMC should think about decongesting roads. The traffic department is now happy that the road sees less congestion. Though there is scope for improvement in the area, we are hoping that soon the road gets widened too,” he said.

When Pune Pulse spoke to B Salunke, assistant police inspector Handewadi traffic division he was happy to know that citizens’ participation has brought about a big change. The chowk now stands less congested as compared to previous months. He said that the area now needs CCTV cameras so that the violators can be punished and more action can be taken by vehicles not following the rules.
