No Permission, No School: Orchids International Sus Road Branch Shuts Down Just Before Academic Year in Pune

Pune – Just a day before the new academic year was set to begin, parents of students at Orchids International School on Sus Road were shocked to learn that the school does not have official permission to operate. The news was shared by the school management during a meeting held on Sunday morning, leading to outrage and confusion among parents.

Parents were given three options: transfer their child to another branch of Orchids International School in Pune, continue classes online for the next month, or withdraw their child’s admission with a full refund. However, many parents expressed frustration, saying that other schools have already completed their admission process and seats are unavailable.

The school began functioning on the Sus Road campus in 2023. Some parents claimed they were told last year that the required permissions were still pending but would be resolved soon. However, even in 2025, no clearance has been granted.

One parent said, “My child, now in Class 3, was shifted to another branch earlier due to the same issue. We were assured the problem would be resolved this year, but nothing has changed.” Another parent said that the school didn’t speak about the issue when the new session began in April. But I sensed some foul play and got my daughter admitted to another school. But yesterday when a few known parents gathered in the school premises they contacted me. The parents are now helpless as the school has shut down and the parents are left nowhere to go as most of the schools are full by now. Strict action is needed against such schools who dupe parents.

Another parent, whose child is in Class 1, said, “We received no updates despite multiple emails. They’ve continued to take admissions without disclosing the issue.”

Many parents stayed on campus for several hours demanding answers. Some requested a refund of fees paid over the past two years, including costs of uniforms and books, with interest, if the school cannot operate.

Despite repeated requests, the school principal and other officials refused to comment on the matter. The lack of transparency has left parents angry and anxious about their children’s future.
