Over Rs 23 Lakh Of Illegal Liquor Seized By Pune Excise Department's Flying Squad
Pune, November 8, 2024 – During the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election code of conduct, the Pune Excise Department’s flying squad conducted operations in Pune, Ahilyanagar, and Solapur districts, resulting in the seizure of illegal homemade liquor, country-made and foreign liquor, and other materials worth a total of Rs 23,73,095. Excise Inspector Narendra Thorat provided this information.
From October 15 to November 5, 2024, the squad implemented a campaign targeting the production, transportation, and sale of illegal liquor across Pune, Ahilyanagar, and Solapur districts. Continuous raids on sites involved in illegal homemade liquor production and counterfeit foreign liquor manufacturing led to the registration of 27 cases, including 14 identifiable and 13 unidentifiable offenses.
So far, 12 suspects have been booked in this operation, which resulted in the seizure of 26,800 liters of raw material for producing illegal homemade liquor, 3,438 liters of illegal country-made liquor, 144 bottles of counterfeit liquor, 3 vehicles used for liquor transport, and other materials, totaling Rs 23,73,095. Sub-Inspector V.M. Mane, Assistant Sub-Inspector Alim Shaikh, and others participated in these raids.
