After its big-screen debut, the cross-cultural love story will stream on Prime Video in October 2025
Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s much-awaited romantic comedy Param Sundari finally hit theatres on August 29, opening to strong buzz thanks to its melodious soundtrack and fresh on-screen pairing. Produced by Maddock Films, the film pairs the two actors together for the first time in a love story that unfolds against the lush backwaters of Kerala.
Originally slated for a July 25 release, the film was shifted to late August to avoid a crowded release window. Makers have also announced its OTT rollout—Param Sundari is expected to arrive on Prime Video in October 2025, nearly eight weeks after its theatrical release.
Box Office Performance
According to Sacnilk, the film had a decent start and picked up momentum on Day 2, collecting ₹9.25 crore. With this, its total domestic box office collection stands at ₹16.5 crore in just two days.
Plot and Characters
The story follows Param Sachdev (Sidharth Malhotra), a free-spirited young man from Delhi. Frustrated with his son’s carefree ways, Param’s father challenges him to find his soulmate within 10 days to secure a ₹5 crore investment. His search leads him to Kochi, where he meets Thekkepattu Sundari Damodaram Pillai (Janhvi Kapoor), a disciplined homestay owner with deep cultural roots.
Their romance faces hurdles, from cultural clashes to Sundari’s long-time family friend Venugopal, testing Param’s resolve. The narrative blends comedy, heartfelt emotions, and cultural contrasts, exploring how love can bridge and test—tradition and modernity.
Music by Sachin–Jigar, with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya, plays a central role in the film, weaving emotion into its storytelling. The screenplay, penned by Gaurav Mishra, Aarsh Vora and Tushar Jalota, balances light-hearted humour with sincerity, while producer Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films continues its streak of fresh, contemporary storytelling.
With its vibrant setting, chartbuster songs and a fresh lead pairing, Param Sundari has been positioned as one of 2025’s most awaited Hindi rom-coms. Beyond its box office performance, its upcoming Prime Video release will expand its reach to a global streaming audience.
