PCMC among top 10 cities to receive grant under Bloomberg Initiative for Cycling Infrastructure

Pune: Adding another feather to its cap, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, out of 10 global cities, has been selected as the winner of the New York based Bloomberg initiative for cycling infrastructure on the occasion of World Bicycle Day 2023.

Speaking about the achievement Bapusaheb Gaikwad, Executive Engineer, Roads Traffic and Transportation Planning, PCMC said, “PCMC had registered for the Bloomberg initiative for cycling infrastructure in November 2022 through various screening tests. Around 279 cities from 66 countries had registered for this initiative. I am very proud to say that Pimpri Chinchwad is the sole city from entire India out of other 9 global cities, to be selected as a winner in this wonderful initiative. A really proud moment for India indeed.”

As a winner of this initiative, Pimpri Chinchwad will get a fund of $400,000 which will be used to introduce a 15-minute city neighbourhood model which will be centred around cycling.
