PCMC Conducts Massive Anti-Encroachment Drive During Civic Election Period, Over 143 Illegal Structures Removed

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has carried out an extensive anti-encroachment drive across the city during the municipal general election period 2025–26, taking strict action against illegal constructions and public space encroachments across all eight zonal offices.
According to information shared by Atul Patil, Assistant Commissioner (Encroachment Department – Headquarters) and Zonal Officer, a total of 143 unauthorized constructions were removed during the operation. In addition, authorities seized and removed 1,260 flex banners, 13,097 kiosks (stalls), 115 handcarts, 60 temporary sheds (tapris) and 2,995 items including tables, weighing scales, chairs, benches, flags and other materials.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Election Officer Shravan Hardikar, and under the supervision of Additional Commissioner Tripti Sandbhor. The joint action teams included encroachment inspectors, beat inspectors, Maharashtra State Security Force personnel, and police officials.
Zone-wise Action Taken
A Zone: 13 illegal constructions removed; 48 flexes, 3,121 kiosks, 37 handcarts, 35 tapris and 452 other materials seized.
B Zone: Action against 29 illegal constructions; 557 flexes, 3,005 kiosks, 3 handcarts and 481 other materials seized.
C Zone: 2 illegal constructions removed; 270 flexes, 1,939 kiosks, 2 handcarts, 13 tapris and 489 other items seized.
D Zone: No illegal constructions found; however, 96 flexes, 1,215 kiosks, 15 handcarts, 1 tapri and 19 other items removed.
E Zone: 1 illegal construction removed; 71 flexes, 1,241 kiosks, 20 handcarts, 1 tapri and 1,319 other materials seized.
F Zone: 35 illegal constructions removed; 65 flexes, 967 kiosks, 13 handcarts, 3 tapris and 57 other materials seized.
G Zone: 11 illegal constructions removed; 85 flexes, 515 kiosks, 23 handcarts, 1 tapri and 52 other items seized.
H Zone: 52 illegal constructions removed; 68 flexes, 1,094 kiosks, 2 handcarts, 6 tapris and 126 other materials seized.
PCMC has issued a strong appeal to citizens not to encroach on public roads, footpaths, and open spaces. The civic administration has made it clear that strict enforcement drives will continue in the future against any violations of municipal rules.
“Illegal encroachments will not be tolerated, and similar firm action will continue against offenders,” the civic administration stated.
