Pune: In a unique move, to address water-related concerns of the residents, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has dedicated a Sarathi helpline number. In light of this, representatives have been chosen, and a helpline number has been established.

Citizens can thus file complaints by calling the Sarathi Helpline at 8888006666 and the Water Supply Complaint Cell at (722) 206-0999, which is open 24/7. According to information received, helplines and regional office-specific employees have now been appointed for water supply complaints.

As per information, the PCMC has maintained an alternate-day water supply despite having enough water in Pavana Dam. Due to leaks, theft, and insufficient and inconsistent water supply, the municipal administration began providing alternate days of water service on November 25, 2019. Additionally, there were technical issues with the water supply caused by power outages, pump failures, and water line bursts.

Pavana Dam has 96 per cent water storage. People, therefore, anticipated receiving water every day. However, since everyone is receiving an abundant and equal quantity of water, the administration has maintained the alternate-day supply. Additionally, the PCMC website (pcmcindia.gov.in) includes the water supply schedule. The regional office provides the deputy engineer and junior engineer’s contact information for water-related issues. Contact the executive engineers of the relevant wards if they fail to notice it. The PCMC has requested that individuals get in touch with the assistant city engineer if needed.

While talking to Pune Pulse, Shrikant Sawane, Assistant City Engineer, Water Supply Department, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, added, ”The Sarthi helpline number has been provided if there are any water-related concerns. Schedules are being displayed on the PCMC website. He urged citizens to contact officials of their respective wards. These instructions have been issued again as many citizens were unaware of it.”
