Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has shown a willingness to restart the Pavana Pipeline Project which is pending for 12 years.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Shrikant Savne, Joint City Engineer (Civil), PCMC Water Supply Department said, “The PCMC has been pursuing the issue with the state government for some time. We desire to chalk out the plan of restarting the Pavana Pipeline Project.”

As per information, on August 9, 2011, three farmers were killed in a police shooting as their protest against the Pavana pipeline project dam turned violent.

It is worthy to note that the PCMC had launched the project to lay a pipeline from the Pavana Dam, which is located around 50 km from Pimpri-Chinchwad. After the three farmers were killed, the then state government put a stay on the project which has continued till date with successive governments failing to find a solution.
