PCMC Takes Action Against Mosquito Breeding Sites: Rs 10,000 Fines Collected, Notices Issued to 156 Establishments

Pimpri, June 14, 2024 –

The Health and Medical Department of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has inspected various mosquito breeding sites in the city and imposed fines on property owners and related parties where mosquito larvae were found. Since the commencement of this action on June 1, 2024, notices have been issued to 156 establishments, and a total fine of 10,000 INR has been collected, according to the Health and Medical Department.

To curb vector-borne diseases, the city has implemented various measures, urging all establishments including industrial, construction, offices, housing societies, homes, and commercial shops to immediately eliminate any mosquito breeding sites on their premises. Failure to comply will result in stringent action.

To prevent the spread of vector-borne diseases like dengue, chikungunya, and malaria, the municipality has been conducting extensive inspections and issuing notices. The municipality has also urged citizens to cooperate with inspection teams.

Fines Imposed for Mosquito Breeding Sites

The municipality is focusing on various construction sites in the city, inspecting water-stagnant areas and issuing notices to the concerned parties. Establishments found with such sites are being penalized.

Measures for vector control include releasing guppy fish in clean water, surveying water containers in homes, and inspecting business premises. Regular Inspection of Water-Storing Items at Home

Mosquitoes breed in containers filled with clean water inside and outside homes, including flower pots, money plants, and refrigerator drip pans. As a preventive measure, citizens need to regularly inspect these items, said Yashwant Dange, Assistant Commissioner, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
