PCMC tax department collected Rs 501 cr from taxpayers

Pune: Three lakh tax payers from Pimpri and Chinchwad have paid Rs 501 crore as property tax in the last 8 months. According to officials, this is a record break collection. In the twin cities of Pimpri and Chinchwad, there are 5 lakh 88 thousand registered taxpayers.


In the last 8 months, out of 5 lakh 88 thousand registered taxpayers, around 3 lakh one thousand and 434 taxpayers have paid 501 crore and 40 lakhs rupees. In 2022-23, the tax department of PCMC aims to collect taxes to the tune of Rs 1000 crore. To achieve this aim, around 85% taxpayers should pay the tax.


Assistant commissioner Nilesh Deshmukh from PCMC said, “Property tax is one of the main sources of income for PCMC. Around three lakh people have still not paid taxes, which comes to around Rs 583 crores. PCMC on regular intervals are serving them notices. The tax department is also sealing properties of tax defaulters.”

Two lakh taxpayers paid taxes online

A total of 2 lakh and 302 taxpayers preferred to pay taxes online. After taking charge of PCMC tax department, Nilesh Deshmukh came out with various schemes under online payment which received good response from taxpayers.


Shekhar Singh, PCMC commissioner and administrator said, “One small target has been achieved now as many people have paid the taxes. We are now focusing on the bigger target. I urge people who have not paid taxes to pay it immediately.”
