Thirteen properties that are in default on their property taxes will be auctioned on March 28 at the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

This will be the municipal corporation’s first auction of properties seized for non-payment of taxes since its founding. The total amount of taxes owed to PCMC by seven residential and six non-residential properties is Rs 60.83 lakh.

The properties that are up for auction are four from Wadmukhwadi in Charholi, three from Nigdi and Tathawade, and one each from Sangvi, Pimpri, and Pimple Nilakh.

The auction will take place at the civic body’s property tax department office from 12 to 3 p.m. According to officials, anyone interested in participating in the process must register by going to the PCMC office by March 27.

According to a senior PCMC official, last month, local officials submitted a proposal to the auction committee, chaired by the additional municipal commissioner, to auction 24 properties that had been seized due to unpaid taxes. Thirteen properties that were evaluated by the committee will now go up for auction in the first phase. Following receipt of evaluation reports, the remaining eleven properties will also be offered for auction.

The officer also mentioned that if the outstanding debts are paid by March 28th, property owners still have time to keep their properties.
