The State Excise Department has intensified its crackdown on illegal liquor operations, seizing goods worth over Rs 2 lakhs in various raids across the region. As part of its ongoing efforts, a recent operation conducted by the State Excise Pune Division in Mhalunge village led to the confiscation of goods totaling Rs 2,68,200, including illicit liquor and a motor vehicle. Additionally, the Flying Squad intercepted goods valued at Rs 86,359.

During the operation, authorities discovered approximately Rs 43,200 worth of liquor stored in 12 plastic cans, each with a capacity of 35 liters. Efforts to apprehend the individuals involved in this illicit activity are underway, with a case registered against the accused under Section 65 (A)(E) of the Bombay Prohibition Act, 1949. Inspector Sachin Srivastava led the operation, supported by Sub Inspector Vijay Suryavanshi, Sheetal Deshmukh, Sagar Dhruve, along with jawan Sanjay Gore, Raju Pote, Shubham Mundhe, and driver Raut.

Over the past four days, the Flying Squad has conducted multiple raids targeting the manufacturing, sale, and distribution of illegal liquor in various areas of the district. Notably, operations in Dudulgaon, Wagholi, Shindwane, and Undri resulted in the seizure of goods valued at Rs 86,359. A special enforcement campaign conducted from May 1 to 4 aimed to curb the production, transportation, and sale of illicit liquor in the district.

Several arrests were made during these operations, with a total of 8 cases registered, involving 6 heirs and 2 heirless individuals. Ten accused have been taken into custody, and authorities have seized 16 liters of country liquor, 8 liters of foreign liquor, 18 liters of beer, along with 26 liters of Gavathi Hatbhatti liquor and 1800 liters of related manufacturing chemicals.

Sub-inspectors AB Patil, VM Mane, along with jawans AR Thorat, PT Kadam, SS Pondhe, SC Bhat, and RT Taralkar played pivotal roles in executing these operations. Inspector Narendra Thorat of the Flying Squad has affirmed that further measures will be undertaken to combat illegal liquor activities, emphasizing the department’s commitment to maintaining law and order.
