Pune: Shekhar Singh Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner has approved the structural audit of all buildings and public toilets which will be conducted under Swachh Survekshan. Singh has approved an amount of Rs 22 lakhs for the same.

The Municipal Corporation has constructed public toilets in the city for the convenience of the citizens. Except for a few newly constructed toilets, many old toilets are dilapidated. As per information, 150 toilets have been found to be in poor condition for which an audit will take place.

Additionally, PCMC constructed buildings 40 years ago in various parts of the city for administrative purposes and many of them are in a bad condition. Also, the workers were given rightful houses at reasonable rates by building rehabilitation projects and housing projects in Pimpri, Wakad, Chinchwad, Nigdi, Akurdi, Bhosari etc. Pieces of the roof slab have started collapsing. The window frames are bent and broken in some places. The walls of the porch are broken. A portion of the slab is hanging on fixed wires. There is a fear that the wires will fall down on the pedestrians. Due to this, the lives of the residents have been threatened. Hence, the need for an audit has arisen.

Pune Pulse tried contacting the relevant PCMC official but couldn’t connect till the filing of this report.
