PCMC Urges Citizens To Deposit Unused Items At RRR Centres To Promote Recycling And A Greener City
Pimpri | February 28, 2026
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has appealed to residents to deposit unused but usable household items at nearby RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) centres to promote recycling, environmental protection and social welfare.
The civic body noted that during routine household cleaning, items such as old clothes, toys, utensils, furniture, electronic goods and other materials are often discarded on roadsides or in public spaces, affecting the city’s cleanliness and increasing waste. However, if these items are properly collected and redistributed, they can be reused by the needy, helping both society and the environment.
To encourage responsible disposal and reuse, PCMC has established RRR centres across various ward and zonal levels in the city. Citizens have been urged to deposit household items that are no longer in use but are still in good condition at these centres.

The initiative is being implemented under the guidance of Mayor Ravi Landge, Deputy Mayor Sharmila Babar, Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, Additional Commissioner Vijaykumar Khorate, Deputy Commissioner Dr Pradeep Thengal, and Assistant Commissioner Kiran Kumar More, through the Health Department of PCMC. RRR centres have been set up across all eight zonal offices of the city.
According to officials, items collected at these centres are redistributed to needy individuals and families. This system not only helps keep the city clean and reduces the overall waste burden, but also strengthens the culture of reuse and social responsibility among citizens.
Authorities said the initiative contributes to reducing environmental pressure by encouraging reuse and recycling, while active citizen participation is creating a positive blend of cleanliness, sustainability and social commitment.
Items Accepted at RRR Centres
- Books, notebooks and school supplies
- Clothes in good condition, blankets, curtains
- Toys and educational materials
- Household goods and utensils
- Furniture
- Small and large electronic items
- Footwear and other reusable materials
Appeal To Citizens
Mayor Ravi Landge said,
“Public participation is essential to build a clean and green city. By depositing unused household items at RRR centres, citizens can contribute to environmental protection and also extend help to those in need. This initiative strengthens the sense of social responsibility across the city.”
Deputy Commissioner Dr Pradeep Thengal added,
“The RRR centre initiative connects cleanliness, environmental conservation and social commitment. We urge citizens to respond positively and support the municipal corporation in making this programme a success.”
PCMC officials have called on residents to actively participate in the initiative and use the RRR centres as a responsible alternative to dumping usable items, helping transform Pimpri-Chinchwad into a cleaner, greener and more sustainable city.
