PhonePe's Pincode To Launch Quick Commerce Services In Pune
PhonePe, a digital payments platform backed by Walmart, is set to enter the quick commerce market through its e-commerce venture, Pincode. This marks the company’s third attempt in online retail, with a focus on 15-minute deliveries in select areas of Pune and five other cities.
According to a report by ET, Pincode has fully pivoted to the quick commerce model, launching 15-minute deliveries in select areas of Bengaluru, Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, and Varanasi. The company plans to expand its coverage to about 25% in these markets in the coming weeks, with the full service rollout expected between April and June 2025.
Pune, being one of the six cities to get Pincode’s quick commerce services, is expected to see a significant expansion of the company’s operations in the coming months. With the rise of quick commerce in India, PhonePe’s entry into this space is likely to heat up competition in the city’s online retail market.
PhonePe’s foray into quick commerce comes at a time when established players like Flipkart, BigBasket, and Amazon are expanding their presence in this space. Other notable players in the quick commerce market include Zomato, Blinkit, and Zepto.
In recent months, there has been a growing trend of 10-15 minute food deliveries, with Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit, Zepto, Ola, and Magicpin announcing their entry into this space. PhonePe’s Pincode is likely to follow suit, offering customers in Pune and other cities a convenient and fast online shopping experience.
As PhonePe’s Pincode expands its operations in Pune, customers can expect to see a wider range of products and services available for quick delivery. With the company’s focus on 15-minute deliveries, Pincode is likely to become a popular choice for customers in Pune looking for fast and convenient online shopping.2aàà
