Pimpri Chinchwad Achieves 2nd Position In Governance Category At India Smart Cities Project Award

Smart Sarathi App, created by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), has won the 2nd place award in the governance category of the India Smart Cities Award, which is given by the Government of India.
As per information, the Smart Cities Mission (SCM) was launched on 25 June 2015, marking a significant milestone in the development of urban strategies. The mission aims to transform urban landscapes by providing essential infrastructure, promoting a sustainable future, and improving the quality of life of citizens through innovative “smart solutions.” The mission has achieved significant milestones in its efforts to catalyze a paradigm shift in urban development.
So far, the Smart Cities Mission has successfully completed 76% of its proposed projects worth 1,10,635 crore, with 6,041 projects being completed till date. The remaining 60,095 projects worth 1.095 crore are progressing towards completion till June 30, 2024.
A significant step forward in this mission is the setting up of Integrated Command and Control Centers (ICCCs) across 100 Smart Cities. The ICCCs act as the central hub for urban operations, leveraging technology to optimise city management.
As a result, significant improvements have been made in several urban services such as crime tracking, citizen safety, transport management, waste management, water supply and disaster response.
The India Smart Cities Award (ISAC) is an initiative under the Smart Cities Mission to recognise and reward city strategies, projects and ideas that promote sustainable development within the 100 smart cities. ISAC promotes mutual learning, disseminates best practices and honours excellence. The ISAC was launched in 2018, 2019 and 2020, and the 4th edition was launched in April 2022 at the ‘Smart Cities- Smart Urbanization’ event in Surat.
Hence, under Governance category, Chandigarh has won first place, Pimpri Chinchwad has won second, Jabalpur has won third place & Udaipur has won fourth place.
