Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner clarifies : No Lathi charge During Palkhi Ceremony In Alandi
Dispute Erupted Between Warkaris and Police today afternoon when the Sant Dnyaneshwar Mauli’s Palkhi Began it’s journey to Pune today. The annual palkhi ceremony in Alandi took place today. Tension erupted between Warkaris and Police today afternoon when a group of Warkaris tried to enter the temple premises without permission.
“Last year, a stampede like situation occurred injuring many Warkaris. Extensive discussions were held among key persons this year including, Principal District Judge, Charity Commissioner, and Temple Head Trustee, to prevent a reoccurrence of such incidents this year,” stated Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Choubey.
He further added, “As a precautionary measure, a decision was made to restrict the number of attendees to 75 people per Dindi, and this was informed to all the parties involved. The heads of dindi were also informed and passes were distributed accordingly. But today today some devotees tried to enter the temple premises to which the police had to urge the devotees to maintain law and order. There was no lathicharge carried out by the police.”
