Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Begins Land Transfer Process For Nigdi Metro Line To Maha Metro
The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has initiated the process of transferring a total of 15 plots within its jurisdiction to Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) for the metro route from PCMC headquarters to Nigdi. The collaboration between PCMC and Maha Metro is progressing smoothly, with a meeting chaired by Commissioner Shekhar Singh and attended by key officials from both entities. Assistant Commissioner Avinash Shinde from the Land and Estates Department confirmed that the land transfer process is ongoing without any hindrances, ensuring the metro project remains on track.
Previously, in 2018, PCMC had transferred 10 plots in areas such as Pimpri, Vallabhnagar, Fugewadi, and Dapodi to Maha Metro for the Dapodi to Pimpri metro line for a period of 30 years, based on terms and conditions approved by the Municipal Assembly. Now, for the metro line from PCMC headquarters to Nigdi, the transfer process for 15 plots in areas like Akurdi, Nigdi, and Chinchwad is underway.
To enhance the financial viability of Maha Metro and increase non-ticket revenue, commercial use of the land is deemed necessary. Maha Metro requested the Maharashtra government to transfer these plots under full ownership and without conditions. Following this request, the Urban Development Department of the Maharashtra government sought a report from PCMC, which has since been submitted, according to a statement from PCMC.
