In a bid to cater to the burgeoning population of pet dogs within the city, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has launched a ‘Dog Park’ at Govind Chowk in Pimple Saudagar.

Covering an expansive area of 65 Gunthas, the park features a unique ‘Celebration Point’ where dog owners can commemorate their beloved pets’ birthdays. This pioneering initiative is aimed at fulfilling the desires of the pet-loving community while furnishing a secure and enjoyable space for dogs to frolic and engage in physical activity.

Responding to the escalating number of pet dogs residing in upscale neighborhoods, the municipality recognized the necessity for a dedicated area where these cherished companions could freely play. Presently, the Veterinary Department has issued one and a half thousand dog licenses, with localities like Wakad, Pimple Saudagar, and others boasting the highest concentration of licensed owners.

The ‘Dog Park’ is meticulously designed to meet the specific requirements of both pet dogs and their owners. It comprises segregated play zones tailored for dogs of varying sizes, ensuring a safe environment conducive to off-leash play. To address concerns regarding unsanitary conditions stemming from dog waste on streets and sidewalks, the park is equipped with disposal points for pet waste.

Within the confines of the ‘Dog Park,’ amenities abound, including a five-foot outer fence accompanied by a two-foot high stone wall, multiple play areas, hydration stations, restroom facilities for owners, a canteen, and ample lighting for evening strolls. Additionally, the park offers the services of a skilled trainer for four hours daily, catering to training needs if desired. Adjacent road space is allocated for convenient parking.

According to the Veterinary Department, underscored the significance of the ‘Dog Park,’ emphasizing its role in not only meeting the desires of dog enthusiasts in Pimpri-Chinchwad but also distinguishing itself as the second such facility in the state, boasting superior amenities compared to the existing park in Mumbai.
