Pimpri-Chinchwad, March 26, 2026: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is actively promoting sustainable and eco-friendly practices in the city through its ‘Green Society’ initiative under the ‘Mazi Vasundhara 6.0’ campaign, leading to visible improvements in urban sustainability.

The initiative encourages residential societies to adopt environmentally responsible measures. Notably, Royal Castle Society in Ward 24 has emerged as a model for implementing innovative green practices, including waste management and compostingrainwater harvestinggreywater recycling, and solar energy utilization. These measures have significantly contributed to reducing waste, conserving water, and promoting clean energy.

The project is overseen by Mayor Ravi Landge, Deputy Mayor Sharmila Babar, Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryavanshi, Additional Commissioner Vijaykumar Khorate, and other senior officials. Society leaders, including Sandeepkumar Shinde, Vikas Jadhav, Sharad Rinke, Pallavi Nimbalkar, and Shridhar Rasal, played a key role in successful implementation.

Under the program, societies implementing multiple green projects can receive 5–15% property tax rebates, incentivizing greater citizen participation in sustainability efforts. The initiative is closely monitored by regional officer Kishor Nanware and health officials Snehal Sukate, Prashant Gothe, and Pradeep Sonawane.

Mayor Landge highlighted, “PCMC is committed to environmental conservation and increasing citizen involvement through the Green Society initiative. This will accelerate the creation of a cleaner and more sustainable city. Other societies should take inspiration and adopt similar eco-friendly measures.”

Commissioner Dr. Suryavanshi added, “Effective waste management, water recycling, and renewable energy usage are essential for today and future generations. These efforts under the municipality’s guidance are bringing meaningful, lasting change to the city.”

The Green Society initiative has already set a benchmark in urban sustainability, demonstrating how coordinated efforts between municipal authorities and citizens can transform Pune’s metropolitan neighborhoods into eco-conscious communities.
