Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Engages With Citizens on Social Media
Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey took a proactive step in public engagement by addressing citizens’ concerns through his official social media handle on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) on March 26, 2025. The digital interaction allowed residents to raise issues related to traffic, public safety, cybercrime, and law enforcement.
Choubey emphasized that the initiative aims to enhance transparency, strengthen public trust, and ensure prompt action on grievances. He assured that such interactive sessions will be held regularly. Citizens were encouraged to report complaints and suggestions through the police’s official handles, @PCcityPolice and @CP_PccityPolice.
During the session, various issues were discussed. A citizen raised concerns about the absence of handrails at the Chinchwad Traffic Office, which was promptly addressed, with railings installed the same day. Others called for stricter action against wrong-side driving, roadside disturbances, and the need for enhanced night patrolling. Choubey responded that efforts are underway to reduce emergency response times, which have already improved from 8.56 minutes in 2023 to 5.39 minutes in 2025.
Addressing passport verification delays, Choubey announced a dedicated helpline (8087705112) to assist citizens facing issues with police verification for passports.
Additionally, he stressed the importance of police verification for migrant workers in industrial zones and stated that strict enforcement is in place to ensure compliance.
Regarding complaints about late-night birthday celebrations causing disturbances, the commissioner affirmed that strict measures are being taken, including disciplinary action against police personnel failing to enforce order.
The session also included real-time action, such as issuing an e-challan for a vehicle with tinted windows and an illegal number plate based on a citizen’s complaint. Choubey revealed plans for a tech-backed platform that will allow residents to report traffic violations more efficiently.
The digital initiative reflects the growing importance of public engagement in law enforcement, reinforcing accountability and responsiveness in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
