Pimpri Chinchwad Police Destroyed Drugs Worth ₹2.64 Crore Seized In 156 NDPS Cases
Pune, July 3, 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has destroyed narcotic substances worth over ₹2.64 crore that were seized in 156 cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to a press note, Police Commissioner Vinaykumar Choubey had directed the disposal of seized narcotics in accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act and the guidelines issued by the Government of India and the Maharashtra Government.
Following the prescribed legal procedures, a drug disposal committee was constituted comprising Additional Commissioner of Police Sarang Awad (Chairman), Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rohidas Pawar, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Atole.

On June 30, 2026, in the presence of representatives from the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory, Pune, the State Excise Department, and the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), the seized narcotics were destroyed at Maharashtra Enviro Power Ltd., Plot No. P-56, Ranjangaon MIDC, Taluka Shirur, Pune.
The destroyed contraband included:
* 315 kg of ganja
* 761 grams of MD (Mephedrone)
* 12 kg of opium plants
* 300 grams of brown sugar
* 109 kg of Doda (poppy husk)
The total estimated value of the destroyed narcotic substances was ₹2,64,13,710.
The destruction drive was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vinaykumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner Sarang Awad, DCP (Crime) Rohidas Pawar, DCP Sandeep Atole, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Pravin More.
The Anti-Narcotics Cell team, led by Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Patil, along with Assistant Police Inspector Swapnil Chavan, Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Shakur Tamboli, and other police personnel, executed the disposal process successfully.
