Pune: PMC Begins Removal Of BRT Corridor On Alandi-Palkhi Road To Ease Traffic Congestion
Pune, July 3, 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has commenced the phased removal of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor on the Pune–Alandi Palkhi Road between Vishrantwadi Chowk and Phulenagar Road after receiving approval from the Standing Committee and administrative clearance from the Municipal Commissioner.
The BRT stretch extends for approximately 3 kilometres and includes six BRT bus stations. As part of the first phase, aimed at improving traffic flow ahead of the annual Palkhi procession, the PMC has removed a 500-metre section of the BRT corridor between Vishrantwadi Chowk and Parulekar School (Shantinagar), a major traffic bottleneck.

The work carried out in the first phase includes the removal of the Sathe Biscuit BRT bus station, around 250 metres of RCC lane separators on both sides, approximately 750 metres of iron grill separators, and a BRT bus station measuring 35 metres in length and 4 metres in width.
The remaining portion of the BRT corridor between Vishrantwadi Chowk and Phulenagar Road will be dismantled in phases by the PMC Road Department.
The information was shared by the Chief Engineer, Road Department, Pune Municipal Corporation.
