In the Chakan Industrial area, traffic jams and accidents have increased to a great extent and the loss of lives is leading to another concern for many working in the Industrial area.

To address these, a meeting was organized with the RTO and traffic department at Mercedes Benz Company on January 30, 2024. The meeting was attended by Retired Director General of Police Maharashtra Jayant Umranikar, Deputy Commissioner Pimpri Chinchwad RTO Atul Aade, ACP Kasbe, Secretary of Federation of Chakan Industries Dilip Batwal, API Chaure, Mukund Puranik, Mandpe of Mercedes, Santosh Kalli, Prakash Dhongde, Ravi Hangarage, Siddharam Chadchani, Ravi Dhutekar, Vice President of Transport Association etc.

As per further information shared by Dilip Batwal, secretary, Federation of Chakan Industries, in this meeting, Deputy Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad Regional Transport Office (RTO) Atul Aade said that road accidents and deaths are becoming a very serious issue and it is necessary to take immediate measures. For that, Aade informed all the representatives present about the traffic rules and explained to the attendees that it is essential for the passengers and drivers to follow the traffic rules to reduce the accidents.

ACP Kasbe said that they will try their best to reduce the traffic jam. Since the police are less, there is a lot of stress in managing the traffic. Therefore, if the companies provide wardens, it will be easier for them to work and get rid of the traffic problem.

At that time, Secretary of Federation of Chakan Industries Dilip Batwal said that traffic jams are not only caused due to unruly traffic, but basically the road infrastructure in this area is inadequate, so considering the growing need for development of this area, the National Road Transport Department has immediately constructed the Nashik Phata to Rajgurunagar and Talegaon Chakan Shikrapur road. It is necessary to start road work immediately so that the workers can reach in time and the companies do not suffer loss of production and also avoid accidental deaths. This area is very important and a large amount of tax is given to the Government of India from this area. A large scale of employment is provided in the area with around 15 lakh workers employed.

The government should immediately take serious note of this issue and make efforts to create adequate infrastructure in this area. As the road infrastructure in this area is insufficient, it puts a strain on traffic and companies lose production, so many companies have shifted their expansion to neighbouring states like Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh.

In this meeting, Jayant Umranikar, Retired Director General of Police Maharashtra, said that most of the time accidents are caused by lack of self-control, unruly traffic, but if a person dies in these accidents, the whole family of those workers is destroyed. The workers should take care of their family and go to work responsibly and follow all traffic rules. It will be a few minutes late at most, but it is very important to go to work safely and reach home safely. Therefore, follow the traffic rules. It is suggested that those who will not cause accidents should be honored with the best driver of the year award.

At that time, the federation agreed to give the best driver award to a driver who did not cause an accident because it would reduce the number of road accidents.
