Pimpri Chinchwad, August 30, 2025 – In a significant milestone for Pimpri Chinchwad, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), New Delhi, has granted approval for a DNB (General Medicine) Postgraduate Degree course at the newly established Thergaon Hospital. Four seats have been sanctioned for the 2025 academic session, announced Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh, who termed this development a historic moment for the city.

Earlier, NBEMS had already approved 22 seats for Postgraduate Diploma courses across municipal hospitals – 12 at Thergaon Hospital, 8 at Akurdi Hospital, and 2 at Bhosari Hospital. These courses are currently operational. Additionally, the Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital has already commenced postgraduate degree programs under the National Medical Council.

With the latest approval, the academic and medical standards of Thergaon Hospital will be further enhanced. These hospitals cater to large numbers of patients daily, offering advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities. Medical students will gain practical experience, direct participation in patient care, and guidance from senior specialist doctors, driving their overall growth. This initiative will also raise the quality of patient care, providing citizens with more efficient and high-standard health services.

The NBEMS-approved programs will position Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) hospitals not only as healthcare providers but also as vital centers for medical education and training.
