Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is in the process of constructing a 500m road that will connect the airport to Viman Nagar.

To facilitate this, the Air Force Station (AFS) has provided 2,350 sq ft of land on lease for a period of 30 years, with an annual lease amount of Rs 2,350. The completion of this road is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in the area.

Currently, 200m of the road has already been constructed, starting from the airport’s parking area. Based on the available information, the road will be 24m wide and will have four lanes, providing ample space for vehicles.

This expansion will reduce traffic congestion. Moreover, the civic body is constructing protective walls on both sides of the road to ensure the safety of the Indian Air Force (IAF) campus.

According to the information received, this project will be highly beneficial for air travellers and will help alleviate traffic congestion on the road leading to the airport.

Residents of Viman Nagar and Lohegaon, as well as activists, have been urging the PMC to expedite the completion of the road works. They highlight the current infrastructure’s inability to handle the daily traffic heading towards Lohegaon, Vishrantwadi, and Dhanori.
