Pune, January 16, 2026: The suspense in Ward 9 continues, but early figures from the counting center indicate that Nationalist Congress Party’s Amol Ratan Balwadkar is gaining a solid lead as rounds progress. According to the latest update, Balwadkar has secured 11324 votes, pushing his total tally to 23063 after 49 out of 174 rounds.

Ward 9 (Baner-Balewadi-Pashan) is among the most closely watched contests in the Pune Municipal Corporation elections, largely due to the high-profile rivalry between Amol Balwadkar and BJP’s Lahu Balwadkar. The contest has drawn citywide interest, especially after Amol Balwadkar’s switch to the NCP ahead of the polls
