PMC issues notices to owners of abandoned vehicles occupying public spaces

Pune Municipal Corporation in its initiative of making the city clean and public spaces free from any encroachments has asked the citizens to remove the abandoned vehicles parked on main roads, footpaths, below the flyovers, etc.

The action of issuing notices to such vehicle owners has started in PMC’s Wanawadi Ramtekdi Ward office. Over 100 such vehicle owners have been sent notices and asked to remove these vehicles in the next seven days.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sham Taru, assistant commissioner, Wanawadi Ramtekdi Ward office said, “The notices are issued to the vehicle owners and they have been given time of seven days from the issuing of notice. These vehicles will be taken to a spot identified in Balewadi by PMC. The citizens should help us in making Pune city clean.”

Sanjay Jadhav, inspector, anti encroachment cell, Wanawadi Ramtekdi ward office said, “We have issued notices to over 100 vehicle owners in the last few days. Now, the citizens should remove their vehicles causing obstruction and defacing the city. Or after seven days PMC will take them to the spot identified in Baner. Those failing to remove the vehicles shall have to pay a fine.”

Prasad Katkar, assistant municipal commissioner, Hadapsar ward office while speaking to Pune Pulse said, ‘Over 152 vehicles have been sent notices to remove vehicles. If they fail to remove them in seven days, these vehicles will be taken to the designated plot. The vehicle owners if claim their vehicles at the Baner spot, the vehicles shall be released by asking them to pay the towing charges, if they do not claim these vehicles will be auctioned by the PMC. Till date 22 vehicles have been taken to the Baner spot identified by PMC.’
