Residents of NIBM Undri road for the last two years were struggling to drive as the electricity poles on the main road were causing obstruction and also led to many accidents. Pune Pulse too had raised the issue with the concerned authorities for removal of these poles. After the road widening of the stretch near Clover Metropole and Konark Imperial Towers was completed the poles were occupying the main road leading to many accidents. Due to Covid19 pandemic the PMC was not allocating funds to remove these poles.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, local Corporator Nanda Lonkar said, “After the road widening these poles came in the middle of the road making it difficult to drive. After consistent follow up we were able to get the required funds. Now, the work has started and within a few days the poles will be removed and the cables will be laid underground from Clover Palisades to Clover Metropole. Motorists will face no problem in driving.”

Parveen Tambe, a resident of Natraj Enclave said, “These poles were a big threat to the citizens. Many accidents have taken place due to delay in shifting of these poles. Now that the work has been started we shall relieve a sigh of relief when the road is pole free. Nanda Lonkar has been taking consistent follow up on the work.”

When Pune Pulse spoke to Kiran Sarode, additional executive engineer, MSEDCL, he said, “The work for shifting five spans and five poles has been taken up on the NIBM Undri road. We are hoping that the work should get over within two weeks.”
