Pune : The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will soon start a citywide campaign in which garbage collection will be done in the entire Pune starting October 14.

As per further information shared by Sandip Kadam, Deputy Commissioner, PMC, Solid Waste Management Department, in the background of Dussehra, Diwali and various festivals, old household items and furniture are changed, just like mattresses and pillows, the waste of mattresses and pillows also accumulates on a large scale. It is necessary to collect this waste and bring it to the PMC system and implement the concept of 3R (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) to prevent such waste from getting littered in the open. For this, the waste collection campaign is going to be organized in the ward offices on the following dates:

·         14/10/2023 – For rags, pillows, mattresses and furniture, at least 2 health cells should be fixed in each ward and the information should be reported to the war room by 11/10/2023. Here, the said items should be collected between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and thereafter these items should be transported to the designated place.

·         28/10/2023 and 29/10/2023 – For all the waste items/materials related to festivities, a place must be designated and it should be informed by 16/10/2023. Here, the said items should be collected between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and thereafter these items should be transported to the designated place. Also, the said items should be respectfully delivered to the designated place.

·         5/11/2023 – Pune Municipal Corporation, Janvaani, Cummins India, Purnam Ecovision, Sagar Mitra, Thumb Creative, Adar Poonawalla Clean City Initiative and other educational institutions and social organizations in association with e-waste and plastic waste in the city to increase citizens’ participation in solid waste management. Collection of waste must be done from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. E-waste and plastic waste collection campaigns will be implemented at 300 places in Pune.

Detailed information about e-waste and plastic waste collection centers should be made available in coordination with the related organizations at all ward offices of the city. Necessary action should be taken to inform as many citizens as possible about these places and participate in this campaign.
