PMC to celebrate ‘Pedestrian Day’ on December 11 on 21 roads

Last year, ‘Pedestrian Day’ was celebrated only on Laxmi Road but this year the Municipal Corporation has planned to celebrate the day on 21 roads in the city and suburbs.

A total of 21 streets in the city have been earmarked by the Pune Municipal Corporation for the celebration of Pedestrian Day on Sunday. This day which was first observed last year on the same day, has had the support of the people. Pune Municipal Corporation is the first in the country to celebrate ‘Pedestrian Day’ in this way.

 On Pedestrians Day, the roads will wear a new look with decorations and activities happening all around. Pots will be placed at various places, artists playing on the guitars and plays would be staged. There would be space for paintings and selfie points too. 

Last year, ‘Pedestrian Day’ was celebrated only on Laxmi Road but this year the Municipal Corporation has planned to celebrate the day on 21 roads in the city and suburbs.

The Pedestrian Day will also see the inauguration of Pune Streets Assessment for Walking and Cycling, Pune School Improvement Scheme book and PMC School Travel Improvement Scheme.

 Pedestrian Day to be implemented on these Pune roads

 – Umbraya Ganpati Chowk to Garuda Ganpati Chowk, Lakshmi Road

 – Lal Bahadur Shastri Road, Jungli Maharaj Road, Pashan-Sus Road

  – Ramyanagri to Pushpamangal Office, Bibvewadi,

Gajanan Maharaj Math to Panchami Chowk, Sahakarnagar Road

  – Jagtap Chowk, Wanwadi Mohammadwadi Chowk to Samvidhan Chowk, Raheja Circle to Vibgyor High School

 – Hadapsar Gadital to Gondhale Nagar, Saswad road

 – Mayur Colony Road to City Pride Theatre, Kothrud Poud Phata to Dahanukar Colony, Karve Road

 – Kharadi South Main Road

• Vishrantwadi to 509 Chowk, Alandi Road.
