Pune-Solapur Road faces huge traffic congestion. Against this backdrop, demand has been made for the removal of encroachments on the Magarpatta to Solapur Highway and to increase the width of the road. So, Pune-Solapur Road was inspected by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials recently.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA from Hadapsar Constituency Chetan Tupe informed, ”Encroachments should be removed and roads should be widened. Another line of road will be extended from Bhairoba Nala to Solapur Road, Saswad Road, and Fursungi after reviewing the BRT, footpath, and cycle track.”

He also added, ”Private transport buses ply on this road. Despite complaints, these buses are still parked here. As a permanent solution, I suggested that the land at the PMPML depot at Shewalewadi be made available to private bus owners. This will also benefit PMPML by earning additional revenue. Mundhwa Keshav Nagar is witnessing frequent traffic jams. Widening the road at Mundhwa Chowk here will relieve the Hadapsar area of traffic congestion. Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials today took note of our demands and assured them that funds will be made available to clear the traffic congestion and take immediate action.’’

He also informed officials about bridges, trees, and electric poles that obstruct the path of widening the road. Apart from that, other issues, like alternative parking arrangements for two-wheelers and four-wheelers, were also discussed.

Vikas Dhakane, Additional Commissioner, Sandeep Kadam, Deputy Commissioner, Prasad Katkar, Deputy Commissioner, Balasaheb Dhawale, Assistant Commissioner, Raosaheb Dandage, Superintending Engineer, Executive Engineer Chavan, former corporator Yogesh Bapu Sasane, Pune Municipal Corporation officials, and party office-bearers were present.
