Police Arrest Eight Women for Alleged Street Prostitution Near Navale Bridge Following Community Complaints

Pune: The area around Navale Bridge on the Mumbai-Bengaluru bypass has been a focal point for residents’ complaints about alleged street prostitution, causing discomfort and concern within the community. For months, locals urged authorities to take action as women reportedly engaged in illegal sex work along a nearby service road.
After persistent appeals from the community, police finally intervened, filing charges against eight women allegedly involved in the activity. Police Sub-Inspector Suresh Jaybhay filed the initial complaint at the Sinhagad Road Police Station, reporting that the women were observed standing by the roadside and making inappropriate gestures at passersby, causing unease for local women and girls.
Under the direction of Senior Police Inspector Raghavendra Singh Kshirsagar, the police conducted an operation leading to the arrest of the eight women. They were charged under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act and have been placed in a correctional facility for rehabilitation.
Local residents have expressed relief at the response, hoping this action will restore a sense of safety and security in the area.
