Power Supply Disrupted for Approx 4,57,000 Consumers in Pune Due to Fault in 44p kV Transmission Line In Jejuri
Pune, April 23, 2025: A fault in Mahapareshan’s 400 kV Jejuri tower line disrupted the power supply to extra high voltage and high voltage substations in Pune city around 9:45 PM on Wednesday (April 23). As a result, power was cut off for approximately 4.57 lakh electricity consumers in areas including Kothrud, Hadapsar, Sahakarnagar, Padmavati, Bibvewadi, Vadgaon Dhayari, Sinhagad Road, Narhe, Yewalewadi, NIBM Road, Parvati, Peshwe Park, Mandai, and Fursungi.
Mahapareshan has launched war-level efforts to restore electricity through alternative supply routes via load management. Power restoration in these areas is expected to begin in phases between 11:30 PM and 11:45 PM tonight.
For the past two to three days, the city has been experiencing an intense heatwave, significantly increasing the demand for electricity. This has caused pressure on some of Mahapareshan’s extra high voltage substations and transmission lines. The fault in the 400 kV Jejuri tower line occurred at 9:45 PM tonight. Simultaneously, a major deficit in power transmission arose.
To avoid potential hazards and breakdowns in the power system, the automated Load Trimming Scheme (LTS) was activated. This led to a shutdown of Mahapareshan’s extra high voltage substations in Fursungi, Kothrud, Nanded City, and Parvati. Consequently, the power supply was disrupted in areas such as Kothrud, Hadapsar, Sahakarnagar, Padmavati, Bibvewadi, Vadgaon Dhayari, Sinhagad Road, Narhe, Yewalewadi, NIBM Road, Parvati, Peshwe Park, Mandai, and Fursungi, affecting nearly 4.57 lakh consumers.
Meanwhile, Mahapareshan is working at full speed to restore power through alternative means.
