Pride of Pune – Honouring hard work and humility
In these tough times of pandemic, we, Punekar’s fought together against both the waves of this dangerous virus.
We could sail through this pandemic because of many people who worked tirelessly and have even continued their noble work till today. We must not forget their contribution towards reaching out to people in the tough times.
Good work needs to be appreciated. And hence, Pune Bharatiya Janata Party Leader Ganesh Bidkar came up with an innovative idea to appreciate and acknowledge such Covid Warriors by launching an initiative titled #PrideofPune Campaign.
Giving more details about the initiative Ganesh Bidkar said, “Every Punekar who came to help and protect humanity is the Pride of Pune! We shouldn’t forget the efforts taken by them.”
In this initiative, Bharatiya Janata Party Pune placed pictures of Shivsena, Congress, NCP workers on their hoardings.
Kiran Sawant, Ram Bangad, Swa-Roopvardhini, Seva Sahyog, and Swarajya Prakalp received appreciation from people.
Below are some extraordinary people who relentlessly worked throughout the pandemic.
Kiran Sawant lost his job in the first wave of Corona. After recovering from this trauma, Sawant decided to serve the community. He held many drives providing free sanitization in several residential colonies the city. Despite losing his vision due to toxic fumes during the sanitization, he continued with the work.
Ram Bangad and his ‘Raktache Naate Foundation’ organized several blood donation camps in the villages to avoid blood shortage during this tough period. After recovering from Covid, he donated plasma fifteen times. His work has been an inspiration to many, from which the movement of plasma donation has increased.
In the second wave of the pandemic, there were many deaths reported compared to the first wave of the corona. This increased the number of funerals and the scarcity of manpower was noticed, Volunteers from Swa-Roopvardhini, Seva Sahyog, and Swarajya Prakalp came forward and decided to help the community. The work of the women volunteers who participated in this encouraged many others to contribute to this work.
